I highly recommend Jeff Wheeler’s Storm Gate for anyone who like fantasy, teens and adults included. It’s clean fiction, has floating mansions, ghosts and a tense plot that keeps you wanting more.

The story is told through two perspectives, Cettie and Sera. Cettie is a little girl in an orphanage from the poorest part of the realm. Sera is in line to be the future empress of the realm. Both of them are trapped in their roles.

Cettie’s life changes when a rich lord, Fitzroy, takes pity on her and attempts to adopt her. Sera remains trapped under the tutelage of her governess and her parents’ warring marriage.

Midway through the book, I could not put it down. There is no blatant love story. Lots of intrigue pulls the entire plot along. What are the ghosts? Will Cettie be able to tell Fitzroy about his wicked estate keeper? How in the world will these two characters’ stories come together?

All of these questions get answered. The end of the novel is satisfying when it all weaves together. I’m excited to read the sequel, Mirror Gate.

What part of this story catches your attention the most?
